Bodyguard hi-impact trauma pads are made of a proprietary, extremely light-weight, hi-density foam that work with all Bodyguard Backpacks and armor configurations.

Trauma pads are the secondary line of defense for your body on the battlefield. Trauma pads absorb the blunt force trauma created by the round. In order to pass NIJ certification, body armor is allowed to absorb the round with 44mm (almost 2 inches) back deformation. That is how far the impact will go into your body. Trauma pads reduce that impact significantly. A combination of certified armor plate with a trauma pad is perfect for high-intensity operations.
Why Bodyguard Trauma Pads are better than most?
Conventional trauma pads are generally very thick and bulky because they rely on thickness to increase the efficiency of kinetic energy absorption. However, Bodyguard Trauma Pads distribute that blunt force energy through a lightweight and thin hi-tensile, foam composite. What level of protection do I need?
It’s a decision based on what threats you will face, your budget and how light do you want it to be.
There’s a formula – lighter + stronger = more expensive.
That said, I’ll go through our armor options…
Level 3A Soft Armor
Weight: 0.75 pounds each.
This is available in all of our backpacks and jackets.
What Will Level 3A will stop?
All handguns, long and short barrel Stops .357 SIG and .44 Magnum ammunition from LONGER barrel handguns. Also stops buck and birdshot from shotguns.
NO RIFLE AMMUNITION PROTECTION.
This is the same level of protection police officers wear on patrol.
Level 3A stops 93% of firearms used in violent crimes.
Level 3+ Steel Core Amor with Spall Coated Rifle Plate
Weight: 6.3 Pounds each
This is an economical option for rifle protection. The spall coating along with the high quality of our plate carriers keep bullet fragments from shattering and going places where you don’t want them.
What Will Level 3+ Stop?

What Will Level 3+ Stop?
Same as the steel core only at half the weight.
What do you really need?
First of all, if you don’t mind the weight, get the level 3+, however…the level 3A feels like a regular backpack or jacket and it will protect you against the vast majority of threats out there.
However, if your budget can swing it… get the 3+ ultralight for the best of both worlds.
Do I need trauma pads?
Trauma pads fit all of our backpacks and armor set ups and they significantly reduce the amount of blunt force trauma of the impact of the round.
I’m sure you’ve heard “Sure it will stop a bullet, but you’ll break a rib.”
Trauma pads reduce that possibility dramatically. What you may not know is that in order to pass the ballistic certification test, the armor only has to allow for 44mm back deformation. Which means the bullet (round if you want to sound cool) can push through (but not penetrate) almost 2 inches. And depending on your body type…that could leave a mark.
We recommend trauma pads with every backpack.
Do I need to be in law enforcement of the military to own and wear body armor?
Any citizen can own armor (it’s covered by the second amendment). However, if you are a convicted felon you cannot use armor and if you use body armor during the commission of a crime the penalties might be more severe.
How much does it weigh?
Backpacks range from 6 pounds to 17 pounds depending on model and armor configuration.
Jackets, with 3A armor, weigh around 5 pounds.
Can I interchange armor between backpacks and jackets?
YES! All Bodyguard products can use our 10×12 soft armor 3A ballistic panels. All backpacks use the same hard and soft armor.
How do I clean and care for my Bodyguard?
Mild soap and a damp cloth will clean the armor. The backpacks can use mild soap and water (just like any other backpacks).
For the Jackets, we recommend dry clean only to avoid any distortion to the Concealed Armor and Hidden Draw Systems.
What accessories can I attach to the backpack plate carrier?
You can attach holsters, medical kits, personal defense spray…really anything that you can attach with MOLLE and will fit in the concealment chamber.
Can I attach an Agency Identifier?
Yes, there is a 2×8 inch velcro patch for your patch on the backpack front plate carrier. This is available on all backpack models.

Where are your products made?
All of our products are proudly designed and manufactured in the USA.
What if I don't like my Bodyguard and want to exchange or return it?
No problem, just email us and we’ll send you the details within one business day.
There is a no hassle return. Just send it back to the fulfillment center (and email us the tracking) and we’ll process the return or exchange.
What if my Bodyguard is damaged?
While this rarely happens, it does happen. Just send a picture and we’ll get you up and running in no time.
What if you get shot in the head?
Believe it or not, we get this a lot. The fact is, the overwhelming majority of most fatal gunshot wounds occur in the center of the chest or the center of the back. This is the reason police wear bulletproof vests on patrol (and not helmets).
Bodyguard focuses on three things – survivability, practicality, affordability. Yes, we can surround you in armor. But it will be extremely hot, heavy and probably be several times the cost.
At the end of the day, Bodyguard is something you can use every day to increase your safety significantly.
